The World Series of Fighting is headed to Atlantic City, N.J. this Saturday with a great card set to take place at the Revel Casino. Headlining the event is two UFC veterans as Anthony “Rumble” Johnson takes on Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arvloski. Fresh off of a victory over former UFC bantamweight Miguel Torres, stand-up specialist Marlon Moraes will clash with a young man who is coming off of a knockout victory over Bellator Bantamweight Champion Eduardo Dantas – Tyson Nam – in a battle that will serve as the co- main event. Also on the card is a pivotal matchup between former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho, who will take on former UFC vet Dave Branch. It is the promotions second official card, and WSOF is certainly establishing itself as a credible fight promotion.

Andrei Arvloski vs. Anthony Johnson Prediction

Despite one “no contest”, Arvloski is currently riding a four-fight win-streak, with three of the victories coming by the way of TKO/KO. Before his recent success, Arvloski was riding a four-fight losing streak, which he blamed on his training with famous boxing coach Freddie Roach. Since moving to Greg Jackson’s gym, Arvloski seems to be making great improvements and is seeing consistent positive results.

Johnson is in a very similar position and is currently riding a four-fight win streak, with his last loss coming to Vitor Belfort at UFC 142. Three of his last four victories have ended by TKO/KO. This fight is Johnson’s heavyweight debut, which is remarkable considering most of his career was spent fighting at 170 pounds. Both men are considered knockout artists and will probably look to keep the fight standing. The difference is Arvloski has been knocked out seven times, and Johnson has never been knocked out. Although Johnson has a respectable wrestling game, I still believe he will look to stand and bang, and Arvloski’s chin is questionable. While both men have the type of power to end the fight with one strike, I believe Johnson will be the last man standing.

Prediction: Anthony Johnson def. Andrei Arvloski by KO in Round 1

Marlon Moraes vs. Tyson Nam Prediction

Moraes is a two- time national Muay Thai champion and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt who has put together three wins in a row, most recently a dominant decision victory over Torres. Nam is 8-2 in his last ten fights, and is coming off a knockout victory over Dantas in Brazil. This is another matchup tailor-made for action. Moraes has been training with Frankie Edgar for this fight camp, so expect the Brazilian to be prepared if the fight enters the grappling realm. I see Moraes defending the takedowns, and getting the upper hand in the exchanges throughout all three rounds. Nam certainly has the punching power to finish the fight, I just don’t see that happening.

Prediction: Marlon Moraes def. Tyson Nam by Unanimous Decision

Paulo Filho vs. Dave Branch

Filho is fresh off a TKO victory over “Ninja” Rua in Brazil. Since capturing the WEC middleweight strap by defeating Chael Sonnen by armbar, Filho has gone 7-4 with two draws. UFC vet Branch is coming off a decision victory over a tough Dustin Jacoby. Branch sports an impressive record of 11-3 and feels middleweight is a perfect fit for him. The Brooklyn native has a 10-inch reach advantage in this fight, and will look to use his range to pick apart his shorter opponent. The explosive Filho will look to close that distance and land a bomb on Branch’s chin. I expect the aggressive Filho to be able to do so. Filho will come out fast and close that distance, let some punches fly and eventually connect, ending Branch’s night early.

Prediction: Paulo Filho def. Dave Branch by TKO in Round 1
