WSOF 2_PC_final

Andrei Arvloski and Anthony Johnson seem to really respect each other, but both men will be going to war this Saturday as they look to knock each other’s heads off. They had a chance to give their thoughts on their matchup as they participated in a conference call with media to talk about the upcoming tilt on March 23rd in Atlantic City at the Revel Casino, for the World Series of Fighting’s second official card.

The card’s main event and co-main event fighters in the form of Anthony Johnson, Andrei Arvloski, Tyson Nam, and Marlon Moraes, plus WSOF President Ray Sefo made an appearance.

As usual, MMALinker was on the line and relayed highlights back to our readers.

Read below for the conference highlights:

Andrei: This is a very important for me Anthony Johnson is a good wrestler and good striker. Training with Greg Jackson is very helpful, and I still have a lot of years to fight. Training with Frank Mir and Jon Jones is good. Being a champion is a dream, but my focus right now is only on my fight Saturday.

Anthony: This is probably my one and only fight at heavyweight, 205 is still where I want to be, but we’ll see what happens. Even at 205 I wasn’t really worried about a weight cut, each fight I get more and more comfortable with myself. I’m about 235 right now, I don’t plan on getting heavier than that. The vibe is still great at the Blackzillians we don’t worry about what the media has to say we just train. Everything is still there at heavyweight, the speed, the power, I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing anything. I’m not trying to send a message I’m just here to fight. Someone was saying 7-15 which I think they were trying to talk about our camp record, so I took to twitter and said what I said, somebody was talking stupid so I went along and talked stupid with them, it was nothing personal to me.

Ray: We would like to have six events by the end of the year, at some point we plan on having women’s fights but not right now there is not enough women for us, with Invicta and UFC having rosters like they do. Tyrone Spong will be fighting in the June event for WSOF. We are not here to challenge UFC or any other organization all we want to do is challenge ourselves, we want to make sure every card we put together is better than our last. It’s up to Anthony to fight at the weight class he decides, we don’t make the decision, we offer him fights and deals. We will have title fight’s by the third or fourth event for sure. These guys put their lives on the line every single day to come out and put on the best show they can. If Josh Burkman get’s past Aaron Simpson giving him a title shot is certainly a possibility.

Marlon: Tyson and I are both standup guys, we both like to strike, it’s going to be a really exciting fight, and I’m ready for the war. Yeah I am training with Frankie Edgar and we are training hard. I think I’ve improved a lot since my last fight.

Tyson: WSOF came along and outmatched all of the other offers from all the other organizations, I’m glad to be with them and I think the WSOF will become a really big show over the course of the next few months and years. Marlon comes forward and he throws punches, he throws kicks, he’s a national champ at Muay Thai, and expect a great fast paced fight.

The call consisted of all the fighters giving great opinions on matchups, and their futures. Ray Sefo also answered some interesting questions about the future of WSOF.
