Former UFC fighter Tyson Griffin will make his World Series of Fighting debut in August. Griffin will meet veteran JZ Cavalcante in a lightweight bout at WSOF 4 on Aug. 10 in Ontario, Calif., WSOF president Ray Sefo and executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz confirmed with MMAFighting.com. Tatame.com first reported the news on Thursday. Griffin (16-6) is 1-0 since leaving the UFC in 2011. He defeated Efrain Escudero via unanimous decision at RFA 4 in Nov. 2012. Cavalcante (17-7-1, 2 NC) is 1-1 in WSOF. He most recently lost to Justin Gaethje via TKO (doctor stoppage) at WSOF 2 in March. The promotion’s fourth event will be held at Citizens Bank Arena, and the main card will air live on NBC Sports Network.
