Bellator featherweight champion Patt Curran will look to restart his reign of dominance upon the division, as he has been set to meet Patricio “Pitbull” Freire at Bellator 123.

The fight was first expected to go down in June before an injury removed Curran from the contest. Both he and Freire have fought once before, resulting in a competitive stand up battle which saw Curran leaving the victor.

Freire is riding a four-fight win streak with three ending inside the distance. His last win over Justin Wilcox made him the winner of the season 10 tournament finals.

Curran had an amazing comeback win over Daniel Straus in March, where the two went toe to toe with Straus edging Curran everywhere, but a last-minute rear naked choke submission sealed the deal and forced Straus to tap out.

I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing some interesting twitter beef leading up to this fight announcement, so it does make the fight a little more important to me.
