In no particular order

1.lock stock and two smoking barrels (Snatch is close but i would put it below this one)
2.The Dark Knight (enjoyed the whole trilogy)
3.Gladiator
4.Matrix
5.Alien (and Aliens)

I think i can choose 40-50 more films that i would put in the same podium as the above but those were the five that came in my mind first.

So far our old pal Dereq is the only fella to heed the advice at the end of the Breakfast Club for those of us who saw it.

Don't you

It's too hard to limit to 5 movies so I'll go by categories:

Action:
- Die Hard 1 got me as a kid
- John Wick 1 & 3 got me as an adult

War:
- Saving private Ryan. Nothing else comes close to it for me

Superheroes:
- Kickass 1
- Deadpool 1

Science fiction:
- Edge of tomorrow
- Inception
- Matrix

Heartwarming films:
- Forrest Gump
- Good Will Hunting
- Pursuit of happyness

Old school guilty pleasures:
- Bloodsport
- Goodfellas
- Wall Street
- Commando ( )
- Predator 1
- Rocky 1-3

There are many more but these are the ones that popped up in my mind.

Also, as a bonus for a film I was expecting nothing from: Boss Level (Frank Grillo and Mel Gibson). If you didn't watch it during covid, give it a chance

Apocalypse Now not making my list is just nuts. I do not know how I missed that. Granted so many good ones will be left when you can pick just 5.

It's an absolute classic though.

My dads favourite movie ever, we would watch it sometimes once a day and I literally knew every word to it by the time I was 14 or so.

Such a quotable movie too, everyone has said a play on the beach scene "smell that? I love the smell of napalm, smells like victory"

"Shit, charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500."

Dennis hopper, Marlon Brando and Martin sheen give 3 of the greatest acting performances ever, also cool seeing Larry Fishburne before he became Lawrence..

Dr. Strangelove
Godfather and Godfather II
Naked Gun
T2

Not easy to just pick 5, quite a few others could be in there.

Love the list.

I have a spinoff question for you mr sir. Sir mr sir.

If you had to pick just one, no choice to say it is a tie, would you say Godfather 1 or 2 is better?

Personally I go back and forth. Both have great advantages the others does not. Marlon Brando in the first is sensational but so is De Niro in the 2nd. Makes me all meow really.

Most days If I had to pick i would choose the 1rst. Again though only If i HAD to choose.

I say Godfather 1.
And yes it is a real candidate for top 5.
