oh absolutely. again, at leat for me, that represents the pace that he could potentially put on him.

Actually he could just submit him but he won't.

based on what? Why are people so reluctant to admit Conner is good? Sure Dustin is capable of getting the sub but it wouldn't be easy, you say it like He could just take Conner down at will but i think he would have to hurt him on the feet first.

For those mentioning Dustin could get the sub. I believe the most likely chance of that ever happening would be if Conor gasses and or gets hurt. Look at how much trouble Khabib had in taking Conor down. Dustin isn't that good at takedowns.

Lets say I buy into this fight happening.

I will throw my two cents into the current discussion.

If Dustin throws a lot of head kicks and range finding jabs and kicks with good defense in mind, he can give away the first two round and wear Conor down. Takedowns can come in the 3rd or 4th round and Conor is not going to get up under Dustin if he is tired. No way in fuck.

Early on Conor can sprawl and stuff takedowns well. He can pop back up after getting takedown well. Later in fights though he shows little ability to fight through a tough grappling situation.

Dustins submissions are way beyond Conors despite Mcgregors head kick tko of Cerrone might tell you

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. It's going to be a firefight and I dont see any possible way that Dustin takes this. I really don't.

Dustin is a lot like Diaz in that he snatches up submissions almost strictly in transitions. He isn't a wear you down and find the sub type guy. I've never seen that strategy or skillet from him previously. He would have to mix up takedown into his combos and Conor is just too fucking sharp for that shit. One mistake and he will be counter punched into oblivion.

The only possible way I see Dustin winning this is if Conor hurts him badly and follows him to the ground but Dustin keeps his composure and locks in that darce. I think the odds of that are so small.

More than likely we will see two fighters unwilling to commit to anything for a round or two, then an eventual heated exchange and Dustin goes down.

Yes, very. It does give him the excuse that he is fighting up 2 weightclasses, even though he is still fighting LWs and he couldn't make FW anymore without cutting off a leg.

As for the fight, whilst Poirier has definitely improved since moving up, he is still very hittable and that doesn't bode well against a guy like Connor. He should try and make the first two rounds ugly but will probably try and trade like he did in the first fight.
