Just a kid from Brockton

Postby SpeakEasy » Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:36 pm

Is probably what most people regarded a young, 22 year old Joe Lauzon as he stood in the octagon in a way that would become synonymous with him.
He didn't look intimidating or intimidated.
He didn't look ready but he didn't look not ready.
He didn't look like be wanted to be there and most people didn't think he deserved to be there.
Joe Lauzon was facing Jens Pulver, former UFC champion and 7-1 favourite, so it didn't seem like Joe belonged in there.
But :48 seconds later, everyone knew Joe belonged there and everyone knew he was one to keep an eye on.
Image
What no one knew, even Joe, was he would be a part of the UFC for the next fourteen years making significant history along the way.

Joe Lauzon would make his MMA debut in February of 2004, at the aptly named Mass Destruction in Boston Massachusetts.
He would win by armbar against David Gilrein and go on to finish his first eight fights including a win over future WEC champion and future American Top Team trainer Mike Brown.
Joe Lauzon would run into someone a little more bred for this game as a young 5-1 Jorge Masdival would pick up his sixth victory with a technical knockout of Lauzon.
Joe would go onto to split his next four, finishing two in the first round but being finished by Ivan Menjivar and Raphael Assuncao, respectably.
And so the secondary theme of Joe Lauzons career began writing itself, he would win some and lose some.
For most fighters this would've been what they would've become known for, being average.
But Lauzon is not your average fighter and four years after joining the UFC we would really see what made him and makes him memorable.
Image

On January 2nd 2010, Chapter One of Joe Lauzons fight story would be written.
We'd have the introduction with Jens Pulver, a prologue with Kenny Florian but the story we know so well was written that night.
At UFC 108, Joe Lauzon and Sam Stout would fight for fifteen minutes straight with neither man giving any quarter as they produced an instant classic.
Joe's will outdid his skill that night as he dished out 24 significant strikes while absorbing 94 significant strikes from what seemed like an endless Sam Stout.
But for every punch Stout threw was met by a Lauzon step forward, never yielding no matter the onslaught Sam had just unleashed.
Zombies are a thing of legend but Sam must have felt like George Romero with the monster he was creating.
But this zombie wouldn't die, no matter how many times you hit it in the head.
Image

As would be the case many times in the future, joe Lauzon lost but did not walk out of the octagon a loser.
That night we got a look at the full fighter that Joe Lauzon is, that night we got a look at the legend Joe Lauzon would become.
A legend of will, tenacity and a legend as old of time, a legend not to judge a book by its cover.
Because this book is hard to put down and always keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Con man, I love it but it has fuck all to do with the disease anymore.
I watched people fight fucking physically shove each other with blatant disregard for anyone over fucking cough medicine.
I went to four different butcher shops, two of which are charging near three times the price per lb on beef and they're all out of 3/4 stock.
I was scolded for coughing while smoking weed, saying I should stay home if I'm coughing.
I've been dealing with an ongoing abuse case with my ex wife and this shit is worrying me what might happen if my kids get stuck with her.
And the cops are tightening the noose on my guns and I might lose them .
Could give a fuck about your conspiracies, sound or not, what I saw today was not conspiracy it was exactly what I knew would happen when general masses panicked and when the blissfully ignorant caught a glimpse of their own mortality.
I lost a lot of respect for humanity today, please man, gimme just a little for linker.
Today fucking sucked asshole.
