One eyed Fighter before Bisping that fought the best

Postby PainDog » Mon Feb 24, 2020 9:22 am

Bisping lost his eye due to competing in MMA. He did show incredible tenacity to keep fighting even after suffering a handicap. However, he is not the only fighter to have fought at the highest levels with one functioning eye.

Maybe my favorite kick boxer of all time Faldir Chabari from Morocco fought with one functioning eye his entire career. Chabari would fight high level competition such as Petrosyan, Buakaw, Souwer, and Holzken. While he wasn't able to beat the best, he was able to hold his own.

As far as I am aware he never once mentioned his handicap and how it affected his performance.

He finished his career with a record of 101-12-4

101/12 with one eye is beyond impressive.

I honestly dont know how you could fight with one eye, let alone high level comp.

I wonder if training with one eye closed would be a good training method.

I wonder how much better this guy and bisping would be if they had 2 eyes.

Madness...

He beat Albert Kraus correct me if I’m wrong and he won a k1 title. At his peak faldir must’ve been ranked top 10 at one point. Legend status acquired.

He beat solid competition like Kraus and even Chahid El Hadj at the time they fought.

What is also crazy is he was a technician more akin to Peteosyan than a power hitter.
