Always Wondered Why Nick Diaz Never Fought Miller

Postby Shasto » Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:45 pm

Seems like it would have been a high profile fight due to the Strike Force Brawl that created this bitterness. Could have made a lot of money. I think Diaz had a good chance at winning and he did go up to 180 lbs a few times to fight Frank Shamrock and Scott Smith.

I don't want to say he was scared of Miller since he has fought and beat scarier opponents. Does anyone else wonder why Nick flat out refused to settle his beef with Miller?

I always thought Diaz felt like he would lose a decision. Miller being heavier stronger grappler wrestler. He did keep asking for a catch-weight

It would be hilarious if mayhem gets off easy from all of his legal problems and they end up fighting in some sketchy organization some day. I’d love to see them throw down

Probably because Mayhem wanted the fight at 180 or 185. Nick was the welterweight champ and I guess Shields beating him was good enough for the pack.

good question... I will have to agree with the linker that said that since Shields beat him, there was no reason for Nick(side A), to fight Mayhem(side B+++)

''Double wrist lock,to an americana, switched to kimura, turned to figure 4,transitioning to an armbar. while attemting an Ude-garami, & a keylock.. opponent escapes so switch to Gyaku ude-garami and a reverse keylock and get that: 'bent armlock',like a V1 armlock,a chicken wing,a some sort of paintbrush submission attempt or hammerlock or a twisting hammerlock and you win by reverse arm entanglement''

Still, in my eyes it looked bad at Nick flat out refusing to fight him. I guess he did figure he would get out grappled by the bigger stronger miller. Seems like it would have been a high profile fight to make. Nick just wanted no part of Mayhem.

Oh man, what a wasted opportunity, the beef between those two was REAL!
They were both arguably in the peak of their careers as well, Strikeforce should have made it happen.

Unfortunately both guys kinda lost their minds and left the fight game behind, don't think we are getting them back. :butthurt:
