MOSCOW, June 12. /TASS/. Moscow Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyev has handed a Russian passport to US athlete Jeff Monson the governor’s press service said.

The ceremony took place in Patriot Park near Moscow on Tuesday, June 12 marked as Russia Day.

Today, we have a chance of handing a passport of the Russian Federation to legendary martial arts fighter Jeff Monson," Vorobyev said.

"I, Jeff Monson, hereby accepting citizenship of the Russian Federation, voluntarily and consciously swear an oath to observe the Constitution and laws of the Russian Federation, the rights and freedoms of its citizens; to fulfill the duties of a Russian citizen for the benefit of the state and society; to protect the freedom and independence of the Russian Federation; to be faithful to Russia, and to respect its culture, history and traditions," Monson read out the oath.

On May 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree to grant Russian citizenship to US athlete Jeffrey Monson.

Jeffry William Monson, nicknamed The Snowman, hails from Minnesota, US. He has so far held 85 fights as a mixed martial artist, chalking up 60 victories. Likewise, he is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion.

Monson, a mixed martial arts fighter, is a native of Minnesota. He has held 85 fights to win 60 of them. He is also a Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion. Monson is known for his fondness of Russia and its Soviet past. Many times he began his fights to the tune of the Soviet anthem. In 2016, he received the title of honorary citizen of Abkhazia and last year, a passport of the citizen of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic.

Who wouldn't want to be a citizen of a country if you are friends with the Dictator? I mean Dennis Rodman probably would love to become a North Korean citizen.

It's terrifying how many people think communism is a good idea, my little brother goes to university in Maryland and he was trying to explain to me how one of his teachers was preaching communism and how excellent it is.
When I asked my brother about the atrocities across history and the ones happening in modern day his response was his teacher told him communism isnt the worst because Hitler wasn't communist.
My head hurt too much after that one but living in Saskatchewan with TONS of Mennonites who lived through or parents lived through Red October you can get some heated arguments with the idiot youth that try to preach the glory of communism.

But good for Jeff, he seems to love it over there and clearly has some connections that better benefit him.
I have a close friend who left Russia for Ukraine because of the violence in the area he lived in and I couldn't imagine a life in Russia after hearing the first hand experiences my friend has had.
I'd love to visit certain areas for their historical significance and I've never associated modern Russia with Stalin era Russia but I could never ever imagine myself compelled enough to get citizenship there.
Power to Jeff though, I'd love to see him in some grappling competitions I think with bellator setting the stage for aged veteran showswe should get some aged veteran grappling events.
Monson, Barnett, fedor, couture, sakuraba, Mir, Nelson, Gracie, both shamrock, bas if his body can hold up, big nog and the list goes on.
Could do a lighter weight one too, it'd be fun and less cringe inducing cause we won't have to worry about as much brain damage.

This is the Trump era I could see communism making a comeback. Capitalism is terrifying as well. Look at China putting poison in baby formula, making rice that is made out of plastic and potatoes. Making drugs that cause psychosis that you used to be able to buy in your local gas station. Once again not being naive to the sins of the american government who armed Syrian rebels that formed ISIS and displaced millions of people. Also fighting a never ending war on drugs which has killed millions and displaced tens of millions of people and there are still drugs because they actually flew them in this country. So yeah pretty much fuck every government in the world and hope Monson enjoys the Oligarchy/Dictatorship which used to be communism.
