Transitions to submissions

Postby Pulverizer15 » Mon Apr 18, 2011 10:30 pm

So I was watching the Rousimar Palhares vs Mayhem Miller video when they are rolling and Palhares pulls a sweetle juice arm bar from the back. Cut to today and me and this guy are rolling and I get his back and I go for the same thing. I was amazed when it worked. It obviously wasn't as fast but definitely more available than previously thought.

This brings up my question. Are there any good transitions that you guys like to use that might not be as commonly known?

Dang! That guy is amazing! I'll have to try that next time I'm in the gym. I guess it is open off of the over under. Think the main thing is controlling the head when transitioning to the armbar.

I like the flow mentioned above, but I usually hit the triangle first and then transition to the armbar and then switch to the triangle to the omaplata if he drives back down in the ambar.

I think if the speed and surprise is good enough, controlling the arm is the most important thing. If you tense and move your legs before the transition, you'll tell your opponent somethings up. IMO the more relaxed the move is, the more unpredictable it is and the less speed is required for it to work. I've seen variations that actually go for a RNC, then while the O is worrying bout that, BAM armbar. With over under or underhooks.

I like this one but instead of the omoplata I look like I am going for an omoplata and then go for the armbar Dustin Hazelett used vs Tamdam McCrory (http://www.mmalinker.com/external/frame ... deo_UFC_91), well it's one I am trying to implement in my game ;)
