TheAssassins Grappling Library

Postby TheAssassin » Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:31 pm

I have an entire youtube playlist dedicate to grappling knowledge and various seminars that I watch. I'll be posting things here every time I find something new or interesting, and commentary when I try it in rolling.

I'll include anything from techniques, matches, philosophy, stretches, highlights, drills, etc etc. Anything that will help you with your grappling game.

Updating anytime I find something new.

First a bunch of Fedor seminars.

This is AWESOME. Something I always do, but I was taught to feed the entire arm under, and that's too hard and slow. I will be trying Marcello's method ASAP.

All these moves from the butt-scoot position are really making me rethink my initial grappling position. I always start from knees and I know I'm not even close to this level but I think the sitting back position seems better in the long run and I should start grappling from there for the practice.

do you think you can practice all of these moves with the same partner? what if he'll get tired or something?

I always have that problem before. When i tried to work on my armbar and triangles, usually my partner would prefer striking or something else. I felt that I cannot somehow practice what I want to practice. As a supplemental part of training, I decided to work with dummies (mine's submission master) after the gym. I can beat the heck out of it all day and practice what I want to work on as many times as I want! Several things can work for several fighters, and this one works for me at least.

wow. you're one of those guys who uses the submission master. so, how was it bro? can it stand up to your ground game? i've been all around the MMA forums and a lot of BJJ practitioners are not convinced about the dummy. or are they gay enough that they are freaked out to use one because they are thinking dirty thoughts about that dummy? hahahaha.. i think that the dummy is so useful and helpful for BJJ practitioners.

see i believe it is good to know both starting positions because from the butt scoot position i believe that is more of a defensive and countering spot where as starting from a combat base or on both knees is more offensive and allows you to push forward. i change it up depending on my mood and who im rolling with.
