Questions on K-1 Scoring System

Postby matttoma3 » Thu Feb 26, 2009 4:31 am

I recently watched some fight from K-1 MAX 2009 Japan Tournament and I don't understand how they keep the scoring. One round I saw they scored it 10-10, another was 9-9, and a different one was 9-8. Why would they score it 9-9 when it would be the same as 10-10?

Can someone please tell me how they score these and why they are scoring rounds even. Also, I think in boxing you can score a round even too but I'm not sure.

Also, I believe if it's a tie they go to an extra round. And also, I've seen a fight that had 2 extra rounds for a total of 5 rounds. Do they have these in case of a tie and is a third extra round possible? Does title fights have 5 rounds like MMA? Someone please enlighten me. Thanks.
