Best fighter who havn't made it?

Postby MMASTER87 » Mon May 04, 2009 12:13 pm

So we all talk about the next big guys who just need to get their shot like Shane Carwin, Demian Maia, and Yushin Okami. But what about the guys who are a couple of fights away from a potential title shot. What do you guys think of some of these fighters as potential champions? Do you see any of them as potential champions?

LW - Maynard, Edgar, Guida, Sanchez, Griffin, Miller, Lauzon. STACKED!

WW - Johnson, Davis, Hardy, Swick, Saunders.

MW - What are the chances Akiyama jumps into the picture or Kang climbs back up? (could Wandy climb through this division?)

LHW - Jardine, Jones, Silva (Thiago), Bader, Soszynski (could Franklin climb through this division?)

HW - Velasquez, Dos Santos, uhhhhhhhhhhhhh god this division is weak

I hope Velasquez continues to do well. He has a pretty good all around game.

LW- if nate diaz keeps improving like his brother has he could very well be a champ in a few years
WW- i think mike swick looks good at this weight, he just needed the time to adjust
MW- if A.silva stays at this weight i dont see anyone beating him
LHW- i hope A.silva one day gets a shot at the title but we'll see how he does against forrest
HW- i think kongos one or twos away from a title shot, but he needs wins against top comp not the trash hes been fighting recently

well in my opinion Mayanrd is one win away from a title shot,
MW, if Alan Belcher defeats Akayama he is going to be one win away from a title shot
LWH, you missing Vera who has a promising future
HW Kongo and Carwin are not there yet but real close

The best fighters not to have made it in the UFC in my opinion are:
- Joe Riggs
- Robbie Lawler
- Vitor Belfort (didn't defend title more than once)
- Matt Lindland
- Nick Diaz
- Spencer Fisher
- Karo Parysian

All of the above are crackin fighters that could do a lot of damage in the UFC if given another chance!

What you think?

I've been impressed by both Dustin Hazelett and Tamdan McCrory given more time they could both go far.
Fighters.

Joe Riggs sucks that's why he didn't make it. Lawler was pretty popular for a while and held a belt. Vitor Belfort made it in the UFC. He just left to make more money like everyone else at that time. Nick Diaz did the same, he could be a top 155lb.er in the UFC right now if he came back. Spencer Fisher, I agree with you he should get a title shot. Karo is famous for not training hard and not taking his career seriously, if he wants a shot at the title he has got to get serious about training.

I'm still rooting for Vitor and Gonzaga, I know i'm probably alone on this but Shane Carwin reminded me of Evans in his last fight. He was getting picked apart, but then threw a crazy punch out of nowhere and won.... and i didn't like that

Edgar from LW definitely, although I think he has "made it" he had an awesome fight with Sherk not long ago and he's had some tough competition.
