Starting Smolov Jr for bench press today. Anybody tried this program?

My buddy followed Smolov protocol a while back for squats and his numbers went up. Forgot the weight he was putting up, but his squat went up like 35 lbs. He repeated week 3, so the program lasted a total of 4 weeks for him.
