8th tied with detroit but ahead in the standings due to a game in hand.

Well since you seem to be the only one that regularly checks this thread

Who do you see winning the cup/Olympics this year. And you better not just say the flames

At this point I doubt they will even make the play offs. Despite how well San Jose is doing now, they've never performed in the play offs so I'm gonna go with a Chicago/Washington final. Chicago's probably gonna take it.

Always great to see another Pens fan. The third cup was a long time coming and I wish Mario could have been on the ice as he deserves a third cup for everything he has done for us. I have to disagree with your stance on Fluery. In terms of actual skill and ability he is great, the problem is he is young and injured. As he starts to age he'll become more consistent and won't lose face after being scored on twice.

He's kinda like Malkin in that respect. Malkin is great when he has confidence. I honestly don't think there is a active player, let a lone another center, that would keep pace with a confident Malkin. The problem is he is young and get rattled when he has a poor game, which leads to a serious drop in confidence which in turn leads to a slump, much like the one he was having recently.

Gold will either be Russia or Canada, that we all can take to the bank. Personally I think it will be Russia, but hey Canada has an extremely talented and deep team.

I don't have confidence in the Sharks making it to the Cup, though I do believe the Pens will make it to the Cup again this year(of course they'd need to stay healthy, which has been their largest hurtle this year). The Sharks are great during the regular season, they've had a Cup Caliber team for 5-6 seasons now and they haven't been able to do anything with it.

Goalies tend to be at their best once they hit their early 30s, there's a lot of pressure being the goalie, especially on a team like the Pens, and no matter how mature a guy is, most of them don't seem to really settle down and get it until they are a bit older.

Eh don't worry about it, the Flames will bounce back. I think they'll make it to the Playoffs and I see them at least getting out of the first round.

Well, I certainly hope so. They've dropped 8 in a row now. In the last ten games they've gone 1-7-2.

I think they'll start to snap their slump against Phoenix and I'll think they'll enter the post season at the 6-7 spot in the west. Not sure how it will look from there, but they have a strong team. I give them much love for trading me Robyn Regher in NHL 10, that guy hits so fucking hard.

I see Russia taking the gold. They are stack! Ovi, Malkin, Gonchar, Kovalchuk, Datsyuk, that's a power house of a team. I was surprised they didn't take Kovalev though :?

You from the burgh too?
I hope he hits his full potential. Don't get me wrong when he's on he's pretty dam good. It's just sometimes he too inconsistent. He lets one bad game screw his next couple.

I feel like we can go deep into the playoffs and possible even repeat, but we need Geno to start ripping shots again.

I live in Ohio, but I have family and friends from both Pittsburgh as well as the state of Pennsylvania.

I say this with as little bias as I can, I truly believe Pittsburgh will be in or around the Cup Finals for at least the next 10 years. With the core we have it would take major fuck ups for them not to. Sid, Geno, and Staalsy alone is simply crazy then you add in Fluery and Tanger and you have a very, very deadly team. Then you realize guys like TK and Talbot are still in their early twenties and will be solid for years to come.

That Sens game was brutal. I mean they are a very talented team as well and they are really hot right now, but shit. That was almost hard to watch. Nothing would go in and they just kept finding the back of the net.
