ONE Championship ushers in a new era of martial arts in Japan with its inaugural show in Tokyo on 31 March.

With an astounding four World Championship bouts, ONE: A NEW ERA is without a doubt the biggest event in ONE Championship history. At the top of the card, ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard Folayang will defend his belt in a rematch with Japanese martial arts icon Shinya Aoki.

In one of three co-main events, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee moves up in weight in a quest to become the first ever female two-division mixed martial arts World Champion. Standing in her way is Chinese powerhouse Xiong Jing Nan, ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion.

In addition, two-division ONE World Champion Aung La N Sang will defend his middleweight strap against Japanese contender Ken Hasegawa in an epic rematch of their 2018 Bout of the Year, this time on the challenger’s home turf.

Lastly, ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon faces Bibiano Fernandes for the third time to decide once and for all who the best bantamweight on the planet really is.

ONE: A NEW ERA will also see the highly-anticipated debuts of mixed martial arts megastars Eddie Alvarez and Demetrious Johnson, who are competing in ONE’s Lightweight and Flyweight Grand Prix tournaments, respectively.

Capping off the stacked main card is a showdown between two kickboxing legends in Andy Souwer and Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex.

Maybe the GOAT of cards

Really pulling for Hasegawa, Belingon, Akhemtov, Nastyukhin, and Wada.

It would be incredible if Aoki managed to win

I could not be much more excited for this card.

It is stacked from top to bottom

Love the incorporation of the flyweight GP and the Alvarez Timofey GP LW fight

It is going to be a sweet night of fights with some seriously awesome title fights too

Hiroki Akimoto is a fighter i am looking forward too. As well as Rodtang, Tonon, and all the tournament match ups. I cant call who is going to win between Belligon and Bibi. I believe Aoki wins a rematch against Foyalong, and Alvarez will smash Nastyukin.

Alvarez vs. tyanes and Saygid will be the most glorious part of this tournament. Adriano Moraes vs. DJ will be one of the best fights of ONE too. Aung La Nsang will probably win a gain.

I just don't see how Alvarez wins this thing. . .

I can not wait for the Rodtang fight too. The French dude he is fighting is very talented, his last ONE fight he won with a bowel releasing KO, but man Rodtang is a fucking beast.

255-41-10 as a 24 year old and a 3 time Muay Thai world champ

His fight with Tenshin he lost was razor thin too. I see the argument that he got robbed.

Frenchie hits very hard and Rodtang always walks forward like a Muay Thai Bulldozer, so I see it being very very action packed to say the least

Or "Achiuuuuuon Achiiiuuuuuuuon" as Shimada says it

Most fans familiar with the UFC would assume former lightweight champion and new ONE Championship star Eddie Alvarez (29-6) will emerge triumphant in ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix.

“The Underground King” takes on Timofey Nastyukhin (12-4) in a quarterfinal clash at ONE Championship: A New Era on March 31. Given Alvarez’s past success in tournaments in Bellator and DREAM, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him do just that either.

However, one fighter thinks Alvarez won’t even make it past the quarterfinals and that’s former ONE lightweight champion and current featherweight champion Martin Nguyen. Speaking to John Hyon Ko of The Body Lock recently, “The Situ-Asian” explained his reasoning as a lack of hunger from the Philadelphia native.

“My breakdown is I see Timofey beating Eddie. By decision, by knockout, I see Timofey beating Eddie in every department. Hats off to Eddie, he’s a legend, he’s a very good fighter, a very good mixed martial artist. But watching his last few fights, I don’t see the hunger as what it was moving from [DREAM] to Bellator to the UFC. I don’t see that hunger anymore now that he’s moved from the UFC to ONE Championship.”

“He could prove me wrong; he could prove a lot of people wrong. Timofey was winning that fight against [Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev] until he got caught, he was knocked out. But in terms of Timofey as a fighter, he’s just a crazy fighter. He breaks his leg against [Kotetsu Boku] and he’s still fighting… I see a hunger in Timofey, wanting to win this fight.”

Alvarez has won just once in his last four, losing two of those fights via TKO. But despite predicting a win for his opponent, Nguyen doesn’t believe Alvarez’s chin is completely gone.

“Alvarez has a fairly good chin for the amount of hits he’s caught, but I think the only time he’s really been exposed for that chin was against Conor [McGregor]. But the other fights he’s been hit, he’s come back and [been] doing the hitting against [Dustin] Poirier, I think twice now, and Justin Gaethje.”

“As I said, he’s a very good martial artist, very good fighter, he’s put in his time in the game. Everyone respects him no matter what he does. But in terms of a hunger to win, I see Timofey just that tiny bit hungrier because he’s facing a legend and he obviously wants to make a stance in his MMA fight career, and I think Timofey will come away with this one.”

Angela Lee looked surprisingly big at the face offs, though I still think the Panda woman is going to be much more powerful.

Xiong is short and thick...kind of similar to Jessica Andrade.

Eddie looked smaller than I expected in the face off with Timofey. I honestly think it's a tough fight for Eddie and I am going with Timofey to get the win.

Aoki looked old and confused in the face off....I hope he wins...but it's a tough fight.

Lee has a chance to pull off a weird submission in a grappling transition

Other than that I see xiong beating the shit out of her for about 4 rounds before the corner does not let her go out for the 5th

Too big, too quick, hits too hard, too aggressive, great stamina. Xiong is a fun fighter to watch

Eddie really needs to make Timofey fear a takedown early or he is fucked. Eddie gets hit hard and rocked nearly every first round the past like 7 years of his career. That is a fatal error against a guy who hits as hard as Timofey

Aoki is getting into his weirdo competitive mind frame I hope
