Mixed martial arts great Ken Shamrock is jumping into bare-knuckle boxing promotion.

Shamrock is starting a promotional company in the growing combat sport, he announced Tuesday.

Valor Bare Knuckle will hold its first fight card Sept. 21 at 4 Bears Casino in North Dakota, with plans for quick growth.

The long-dormant sport is on the rise in North America after Bare Knuckle FC staged the first sanctioned bare-knuckle bouts last year. The sport is already proving popular with pay-per-view audiences.

The 55-year-old Shamrock is an MMA pioneer who fought on the inaugural UFC 1 show in November 1993. Most competitors in that tournament fought without gloves.

Most of that was just kidding around. The 20 years was exaggerated for sure.


Still though a bare knuckle fight card between two (defunct?) gyms known more for submission/ground game prowess with both rosters involving fighters in their 40s or retired for half a decade or both to me is just sad in a way.

I wont say I won't follow it and see the results the next day, but man these guys have enough CTE as it is dammit. Do they need more?

Didn't Mezger retire because he had a stroke the week of his fight with Tito Ortiz where Cote had to fill in for him? No way that dude should be fighting bkb. He has his own gym now.

yea man..i aws joking as well.. its kewll.. Coleman vs Ken would be sweet. If they promote it well and go for brokes... I think that the safest way for them to make some actual money is to have it free on youtube.. Make a fucking youtube channel...and make the money from the views...cause if the fights stay up, they are bout to reach near 1m views..

Anyway.. Pete williams can bang and so can benett ? ? and a few more... they should take Kid Chaos and Leben as well
