Chan's known for his Brawl but hes not bad on the ground either, actually really good.

The question is, how do you escape the Twister once its been locked. Looks to me like Garcia could kicked and wrap his right leg around Chan to give him back mount again but im not sure..

Who's Next for him.. Rematch with Roop, I also like Cub Swanson.

I really don't think Garcia even knew what was being applied to him. That was one of the first times I've ever seen that move actually done in competition. Looked pretty damn painful though. Don't really know what he could have done to get out of it, looked pretty tight.

Generally when a submission is locked in on you, you have already lost.

Hence people complaining about getting 'caught in a submission'

There are some submissions that can be powered out of but most of the time once something is sunk, straight, or locked there's no way back.

once its been locked in, the only thing u can really do is try to force the hands off from around your head.

just don't let them pass the arm

Well if you were Garcia you could have literally waited one second haha.... I bet he's kicking himself now. All he had to do was hold on. I'm very happy he didn't though. I honestly compare that sub to the petis kick. It was great. These smaller guys are bringing alot to UFC.

funny i was thinking about that same question. all i could come up with was pushing down on (edit) opponents (edit) trapped leg between the ankle and back of knee with your free leg to hopefully creep up or a bit out of the strain zone just before opponent clasps hands, then powering your trapped arm (behind oppenents neck) forward (like a pec dumbell fly) and clasping your hands. almost like a reverse twister.

though i doubt it would strain your opponents neck like a sideways can opener or something (unless your really strong) it may allow you to climb "up" and out of gumbyville.

but i wouldnt know for sure, i only grapple with women (god willing)

Correct however it never works unless ure really strong... the "twister" has no known efficient escape .....its A deadly submission amazing we got to see it in a mma match ...but its even more rare in jits competitions

If you get caught in a twister, you might as well just tap, unless you have practiced an escape many times before in camp. Because honestly, it can seriously injure you. I've seen it banned in certain BJJ competitions. I think it was a match on youtube I saw, where I think it was Eddie Bravo who used it on a guy, and the ref came in and said no, that is an illegal move.
