This is a wise choice, my friend. I'm still eating nowhere near as many greens as I should be, but when I do, I try to use Spinach instead of iceberg lettuce whenever possible. The energy required to ingest and digest iceberg lettuce (much like celery) requires more calories than the food provides

Many more fun facts about how awesome spinach is

You realize that most "animals" would qualify as "unhealthy," right?

um, only if you buy into the FDA's idea of "health".

Take a look at what traditional hunter-gatherers ate and be sure to examine the frequency of chronic diseases in these populations (especially those blamed on "evil" fats). You might be surprised what you find.

we are not hunter /gatherers anymore and this is a semimisnomer...

they were healthier back then via the whole lifestyle in general, living off of the land taking only what you need etc.

germs and disease come into play when you stockpile food, engineer it, live in dense urban areas etc. i think its a combination of everything, but we dont hunt and gather anymore unless your referring to grocery shopping?

i mean i hunt and fish ocassionally, but most people are 100 % dependent on the system as it is set up.

yeah, but "living off of the land" meant eating a huge amount of animal protein and fat which we can still do (ever heard of grass-fed meat and free range chickens?)

hominids with modern body proportions from the neck down date back 1.7 to 2 MILLION years. However, agriculture did not start until about 12 THOUSAND years ago. we may no longer be hunter-gatherers, but my guess is that our genes (and more importantly, our DIGESTIVE systems) are still trying desperately to figure out what the heck grains are. Just look at what happens when a "western diet" (i.e. one loaded with wheat and grains) is introduced to modern hunter-gatherer societies. All of the chronic diseases that were absent "coincidentally" appear. Shocker, right?

What does any of this have to do with healthy snack food?

i wasnt criticzing your being carnivorous personally for me meat>grains etc...
i do however t ry to find a healthy balance in regards to everything i incorporate into my diet.

of course i know what range free grass fed meat is, iuse it all the time when i cook, we eat allot of buffalo, dear meat, poultry, fish, etc going green and organic whenever possible...

i buy organic turkey jerky, beef jerky for snacks when im working, you just gotta be careful with the sodium content on that stuff, i also will bring an apple with me and raw almonds, good fats, fiber etc.

I really like the baby carrots for a snack when you want something crunchy, it works well. Just do not eat a few, you really can not turn orange.

That sounds suspiciously like a snack.
