2014 Olympics in Sochi

Postby bruins2012 » Mon Jan 20, 2014 7:15 pm

I figured Linker needed an Olympic thread.

What is everyone excited for? Skiing, hockey, luge, etc

I personally can't wait for the games to begin mainly for the amazing Olympic hockey. Russia, USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland all looked to be stacked and the tourney should be outstanding. Its going to be some very early mornings in order to catch these games live, but I'm willing to make any sacrifices necessary...

What are you guys looking forward to?

Not sure if serious ^^^

Im looking forward to Snowboarding and Hockey. I don't know who I'm cheer for in hockey but i do know it won't be Canada. Get familiar with some Players and Hopefully one of them makes me have a Fav team in the NHL. from the games i watched the teams i have enjoyed are Rangers, Panthers, Capitals, Red Wings and Colorado.

You'll probably like team sweden. They have Lundqvist from the rangers, Backstrom from the caps, and SIX players from the Red Wings; Zetterberg, Alfredson, Franzen, Kronwall, Ericsson and Jonas Gustavson backing up Lundqvist in net.

I love this team. I'm rooting for Canada big time but if it had to be someone else, I hope it's sweden. They're not considered one of the favorites like Canada/US/Russia but they're skilled enough to beat all those teams under the right circumstances. Would make for a great underdog story and I like pretty much all those players.

I also can't wait for the speed skating, bobsled, luge, and all the downhill ski events!

The winter Olympics is sooo much better than the summer games.

Not a huge fan of the figure skating or ice dancing though...

I'm really only watching for the hockey, that's the only "can't miss" event for me. I'll probably be checking out the snowboarding and maybe the speed-skating too. Hockey's the main attraction, though. Team USA has a chance to go back to the finals this year, they should definitely be tough to play against, even if they did select Blake fucking Wheeler over someone like Kyle Okposo or Bobby Ryan. Much like last time, goaltending should be a huge strength for the U.S. team. I have faith in you, Jonathan Quick, lead us to the promised land!

I'm not sure Sochi is ready to host the olympics...

Either that, or they're just fuckin with media. Which im fine with but it sure as fuck better not interfere with me watching any olympic Hockey.
