As reported by Joystiq.com, on Tuesday during its investor teleconference call Electronic Arts confirmed that it has no intention of releasing the upcoming EA UFC game within this fiscal year.  The current EA fiscal year runs until March 31st, 2014.  EA acquired the licensing rights to the UFC brand from THQ in June of 2012. The game is expected to be released for the next generation of gaming consoles.

Although the proper name for those consoles has not been revealed, many have taken to referring to them as the Xbox 720 and the PS4, respectively.  The next generation consoles are expected to hit the market in time for the holiday season of 2013, although it would seem from Tuesday’s phone call that the upcoming UFC title will not be available until  the 2nd quarter of 2014 at the earliest.

“EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau explicitly mentioned 11 games the company plans to launch before next March, none of which were UFC or Tiger. When asked for clarification, a representative for EA told us the games would not release in the fiscal year, though they are “still in development.”
