When news of the International Olympic Committee voting to drop wrestling from the Olympics by the 2020 games, UFC President Dana White originally said he and the UFC could not be the saviors in this global snafu. More recently, DW changed tact, saying that the UFC would, in some way, get behind the effort to save wrestling and keep it in the Olympics. After all, the UFC had already supported numerous high school and collegiate wrestling programs around the country. It also makes sense when you think of how pivotal wrestling has become as a facet of MMA, and the more former Olympians the UFC has on its roster, the more legitimate it may seem to some.
