Christos Giagos explains how move across the country was 'win-win situation' ahead of UFC Fight Night 192

LAS VEGAS – A lot has changed in the life of Christos Giagos as of late.

Now a married man, living on the opposite coast from his native California, Giagos (19-8 MMA, 5-3 UFC) trains at Sanford MMA in South Florida. The move across the country wasn’t just to improve his preparation for his UFC Fight Night 192 bout Saturday vs. Arman Tsarukyan.

“To be honest (the move) was actually for my wife,” Giagos said at a pre-fight news conference Wednesday. “She got an opportunity with her job. They asked if she wanted to move to Florida to take some of the territory down there because they don’t have anybody.

“When she told me, before, I was all about California. I’d never move, you know? I know that a lot of fighters go to Florida to better their careers. When she told me, I thought about it. I was like, ‘You know what, why not? It can help her career and it can help my career.’ It was a win-win situation, so I said, ‘Yeah, let’s go. Let’s do it.'”

UFC Fight Night 192 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.
