Early Life

Browne's parents split when he was very young, and Browne stayed in Hawaii with his father. Browne's father was involved in the drug and gang cultures, and he died when Travis was ten years old. Browne then moved to live with his mother in San Diego, California.

Path to Fighting Career

Browne played basketball but also fought a lot as a student. A friend turned him on to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Browne began practicing. He excelled and was soon winning grappling tournaments.

Mixed Martial Arts Career

Browne began his professional MMA career in 2009, fighting in smaller organizations such as Bellator Fighting Championships, Gladiator Challenge and King of the Cage. He quickly amassed an undefeated winning streak of 9-0, including two successive knockout victories, in under 10 seconds, one of which was over TUF 10 competitor Abe Wagner.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

In March 2010, it was announced that Browne had signed with the UFC. He made his debut at The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale against James McSweeney. Browne remained patient and finally found his opening midway through the first round, when he used a body kick to set up a big left punch that dropped McSweeney. Browne followed his opponent to the mat, moved from side control to the mount position, and then rained down a barrage of punches to force the TKO (Punches) stoppage at the 4:32 mark of the opening frame.
