Biography
Tim has a Bachelor of Arts from Augustana University College, and an Elementary Education degree from the University of Alberta. Prior to beginning his MMA career he was a kindergarten teacher in Rochester, Alberta.
Hague holds a rank of blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under black belt instructors Kyle Cardinal and Rodrigo Munduruca.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
Hague made his MMA debut against Eric MacDonald at King Of The Cage Canada: Detonator in 2006. Hague came out victorious winning via submission. Hague went on to win his next 3 fights and subsequently won the vacant KOTC Canada heavyweight title over Adriano Bernardo in only his fifth fight. His only loss came to Miodrag Petkovic in a razor sharp split decision. Before signing with Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC), Tim got a rematch against Petkovic and won by Unanimous decision.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
Hague made his debut against former professional kickboxer, Pat Barry at UFC 98. Hague upset Barry by submitting him using a guillotine choke early in the first round.
Hague fought Todd Duffee on the UFC 102 preliminary card on August 29, 2009. Heavyweight Todd Duffee scored the fastest KO in UFC history over Tim Hague at 0:07 into the fight.
Hague was next scheduled to face Chris Tuchscherer on February 6, 2010 at UFC 109: Relentless. Tuchscherer was coming off a disappointing loss at the hands of Gabriel Gonzaga, where Tuchscherer was viciously kicked in the groin, yet continued anyways, only to be defeated. The bout made it to the judges decision, where Tuchscherer's superior wrestling handed Hague a loss by Decision (Majority), as two judges ruled in favor of Tuchscherer and the other ruled it a Draw.
After the loss to Tuchscherer, Hague was released by the UFC. He released the following message on his Facebook account:
- "Tim “The Thrashing Machine” Hague was released from the UFC… Time to train harder, beat up some more people and work back to the big show!"
Luckily for Hague, when Chad Corvin was unable to compete against Joey Beltran at UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2, Hague replaced him, returning to the UFC. Although a frantic first round left both fighters a bit depleted in the next two frames, the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the action. And though those fans were clearly on the side of Hague, who was released from the UFC earlier this year after a loss to Chris Tuchscherer, Beltran controlled the bout with an effective sprawl, quicker striking and overall better conditioning. Despite a late rally by Hague, Beltran won over the judges and earned the decision via scores of 30-27, 30-26 and 29-28.
Personal Life
Tim and his wife have a son named Brady, who was born in July 2008.
