Shad Smith is an American mixed martial artist who has competed as a Lightweight, where for most of his career he did not want to cut weight, until recently, as he walks around at 155 lbs. After deciding to actually attempt a weight cut, he was able to make the Bantamweight cut, at 135 lbs. He is known for having a criminal record of 46 counts of assault and battery as a juvenile, which he explains came from his sexual preference - as Smith is the only openly homosexual mixed martial artist.

Smith currently works for TapouT full-time, hence the tattoo on his stomach and neck that have the companies logo on them.

Biography

Smith is the only openly homosexual professional mixed martial artist, coming out to a friend in prison, where he was serving time for carjacking.

Though currently a professional fighter, Smith has dabbled in the underground fight scene, most notably the Felony Fights series that features exceptionally violent bouts between unskilled ex-cons.

After his bout with Toby Imada, Smith was suspended from competing in mixed martial arts bouts because he had two drug tests come back positive for marijuana.

Personal Life

Smith is dating a man named Jesse Empey, a makeup artist.
