Roberto "Spider" Traven is a mixed martial artist whose fighting style is based in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Wrestling.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1968, Traven began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 16. He earned his black belt in only 4 years of training. Traven was one of the early UFC competitors, fighting in UFC 11 vs. Dave Berry and in UFC 34 vs. Frank Mir.
Traven was the 1999 Abu Dhabi open class champion and has taken first place twice in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Traven is a 6th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
