[edit] Mixed Martial Arts Career
Whitehead started wrestling at North Idaho JC, Southern Oregon University, and Missouri. He is a 3 time All American Wrestler and Abu Dhabi qualifier. In 2005 he participated in the The Ultimate Fighter 2 reality series on Spike TV.
Before being a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter, Whitehead took part in a WEC tournament to crown a Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Terroll Dees in his first fight, making it to the finals to face Brandon Vera. Whitehead lost the fight via TKO (Doctor Stoppage) at 1:12 of the second round.
He was on a 12 fight win streak, including five straight victories in the IFL, before losing to Renato Sobral at Affliction: Banned. He has proven himself dangerous standing and striking, as well as with wrestling and submission grappling.
He bounced back from his loss with a victory over Leo Pla at an M-1 event. He was then scheduled to fight Kevin Randleman at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields on June 6, 2009. He took the former UFC Heavyweight Champion to the scorecards, winning a unanimous decision victory.
[edit] "Person of Interest"
In April 2010 it was learned that Whitehead is a "person of interest" by the Las Vegas police department in a case involving an alleged sexual assault and marijuana-grow operation. No warrant had been issued at the time.
