Mixed Martial Arts Career

Khalidov has fought in six different KSW events, which more often than not feature a tournament with either four or eight participants. However, he has never participated in a tournament in the promotion, instead fighting individually such opponents as Daniel Tabera.

Khalidov made his US debut with EliteXC on their October 10, 2008 ShoXC card against American Jason Guida. After almost two hard-fought rounds, Khalidov stopped Guida on the feet with an unanswered torrent of punches.

Following the collapse of EliteXC, Khalidov had expressed interest in a hasty return to KSW, as previously outlined by his signing with ProElite in favor of nonexclusive contract status. Due to a broken hand, Khalidov was unable to return for KSW X on December 12, 2008. Following his recovery, he fought PRIDE veteran Daniel Acacio at KSW XI on May 15, 2009, knocking him out in 1:10 minutes of the first round. Additionally, he stated in an interview that he was in talks with World Victory Road, Strikeforce and Affliction, WVR being the frontrunner for his contractual services.

Sengoku

On October 13, 2009, it was announced that Mamed had signed a 3-fight deal with World Victory Road's Sengoku and that his first appearance for the promotion would be on the November 7, 2009 card against current Sengoku Middleweight Champion Jorge Santiago, though the fight would not be a title fight, as Santiago's title will not be on the line. It was unfortunate that the title was not on the line for Khalidov, as he upset the Champion, ending the fight at 1:45 of the first round due to TKO (Punches).

It was rumored mid-January 2010 that Santiago would return to action to defend his Middleweight title against Kazuo Misaki on March 7, 2010 at Sengoku: Twelfth Battle, instead of facing off against Khalidov. Although Khalidov had defeated Santiago in a non-title bout in his last fight, Khalidov was rumored to be featured on the same card, facing off against Joe Doerksen in a Middleweight title eliminator bout, yet only a week later it was announced by KSW that Khalidov would in fact face off against Santiago for the title.

Santiago made sure lighting didn't strike twice, being more educated on his opponent and better prepared than he had been for the pair's original meeting. Santiago attacked from the opening bell. But it would be the championship rounds where the American Top Team product would shine. After a hotly contested opening 15 minutes, Khalidov began to wilt under the pressure while Santiago powered on. Controlling the action on the floor and the feet for the final 10 minutes, Santiago earned the Decision (Unanimous) to level the score with Khlaidov at 1-1 and keep the middleweight title firmly around his waist.

After the loss he returned to KSW, where he defended his KSW Middleweight title against Ryuta Sakurai by way of Draw. Khalidov was unable to finish his opponent, and the fight even went into an overtime, fourth round.
