[edit] Mixed Martial Arts Career

Henle trained in Tae Kwon Do from an early age, to defend himself against bullies. Henle earned his black belt in just 5 years and was a champion in his state. After attending California Lutheran University, Henle looked for a new training camp and joined Team Freedom and helped Karo Parisyan with training for future fights. He also started to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and after associating with a couple of different gyms, he joined his current camp, Big John McCarthy's MMA.

[edit] Early Career

Henle started his MMA career in 2009 in his home state of California. His debut professional mixed martial arts fight was against Frank Pizzirulli in July 2009. Henle was able to win via Rear Naked Choke at 1:30 of the first round,

Henle's second fight was against Robert Barros and he was victorious via unanimous decision after three 3-minute rounds.

Before signing with UFC, Henle fought EliteXC alumnus Mark Kempthorne and won via Arm Triangle Choke.

[edit] The Ultimate Fighter 11

In March 2010, Henle was announced as part of the upcoming eleventh season of The Ultimate Fighter. In the elimination round, Henle defeated Costantinos Phillipou with a late second-round Armbar submission. He was selected last by Team Liddell, perhaps due to having the least impressive showing in the preliminary fighters after Dana White proclaimed that Henle was "getting killed the entire fight" and was "really dominated" until his come-from-behind submission win.

Henle was the last fighter to take part in the first round match-ups. His fight was against recent returnee, Seth Baczynski. He lost the fight, which went to a third round sudden victory, via decision and was not chosen as a wild-card to return to the competition.

When Nick Ring's slot in the quarter-finals was up for grabs, Dana White announced that he would discuss who would get the slot, with coaches Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. Immediately afterwards, Henle began exercising on the bike and getting in the sauna, believing that only he had a shot at replacing Ring. James Hammortree, however, followed White and pleaded with him for the slot, unbeknownst to Henle. Hammortree was given the slot, which angered Henle.

Unlike some of the other contestants, Henle was never given a spot on The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale, losing a chance to compete in the UFC.

[edit] Tachi Palace Fights

After seeing another fight cancelled, Henle signed with Tachi Palace Fights and fought Collin Hart to a draw at TPF 6: High Stakes on September 9, 2010.
