Mixed Martial Arts Career
Goulet is often touted by the UFC as being the #2 ranked Welterweight fighter in Canada, behind the former TKO Welterweight Champion and current UFC Weleterweight Champion, Georges St. Pierre. Goulet is undefeated in the Quebec-based organization TKO, holding an unblemished record of 9 wins, 0 losses within the company.
After making a successful debut in the UFC at Ultimate Fight Night 2, Goulet suffered a first-round knockout loss to Duane Ludwig. However, Goulet rebounded, and came back to win a majority decision over The Ultimate Fighter 2 fan favorite, Luke Cummo, at Ultimate Fight Night 5.
Goulet earned his nickname, "The Road Warrior," after taking a fight on very short notice, traveling to the fight venue without his trainers or cornermen.
Goulet lost his next fight in the UFC via submission (due to strikes) to Josh Koscheck at UFC Fight Night 6 in August, and returned to TKO. He had been scheduled in a title fight for the company's welterweight title, but his opponent had to pull out. The replacement for him lost to Goulet.
In the UFC, he was defeated at UFC Fight Night 11 where he fought [[Dustin Hazelett] but rebounded with a win over Paul Georgieff at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale. He won his next fight by TKO (Punches) at 2:07 in the second round in Montreal during UFC 83: Serra vs St. Pierre 2 against Kuniyoshi Hironaka. The fight with Hironaka earned "Fight of the Night" honors for UFC 83. Goulet was scheduled to fight Paul Kelly at UFC 85 but had to withdraw due to lack of training time. Goulet lost in 33 second to Mike Swick at UFC Fight Night 16: UFC Fight for the Troops by KO due to punches.
Goulet participated on the UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2 event, which took place in his home country of Canada. He faced off against Marcus Davis, who was on a two fight slide, and in much need of a win. After a closely contested first round, Davis used a perfectly placed right hand to drop his opponent in the opening seconds of the next frame. Goulet briefly recovered but the crashed to the mat for a final time when Davis unloaded a vicious uppercut. The former boxer followed Goulet to the mat and connected with additional blows until referee Phillipe Chartrier halted the action at the 1:23 mark of the round, giving Davis the win by way of TKO (Punches).
