[edit] Mixed Martial Arts career

[edit] Early career

Following an undefeated amateur MMA record of 4-0, Jim "The Kid" Hettes turned professional in June 2009. He currently is 9-0 as a professional with all of his wins coming via submission.

Hettes has been shocking the MMA world around the mid-atlantic region beginning with his :28 victory after being a huge underdog to James "Binky" Jones in the co-main event at Shogun Fights 2 in Baltimore, Maryland. On July 16, 2011 Hettes won the Martial Arts Super Sport (MASS) Featherweight Title over ROC Champion Jacob "The Hunter" Kirwan which secured him a contract with the worlds top MMA League the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

[edit] Ultimate Fighting Championship

Hettes was offered a contract to fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship with the first bout scheduled to take place on December 4, 2010 as part of UFC: The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale card in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, he had to turn the offer down due to prior engagements with another promotion. In July 2011, Hettes officially signed with the UFC.

Hettes made his promotional debut on August 14, 2011 against Alex Caceres, replacing an injured Leonard Garcia. He won via submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 3:12 of round 2.
