From FightWiki
Hey,
**NOTE: PLEASE GO TO "EDIT" TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CORRECTLY**
I just wanted to tell you about fightwiki and how it works! Fightwiki is the free MMA encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Feel free to roam around Fightwiki by clicking on fightwiki on the top menu of MMALinker. Once you enter Fightwiki you go to the main page. You will see a menu on the left hand side of the screen. This is the way to navigate Fightwiki. If you look at the menu you will see "Fighters", this is where you can see a list of many many fighters all in alphabetical order. If you click on any fighter who's name is highlighted blue, click on it and it will take you to his/her fighter profile. If a name is in red it means that the fighter's profile has not been started. As I said before you can edit fightwiki at anytime. I will go through the basics with you now.
If you search a page that has not yet been done, it will automatically take you to edit the page. If you want to make a large sub-title just write the title, highlight it and click on the large, black A just above the writing area. If you click the right one it should look like this: === Title Here === whilst you are writing it.
When doing something like the fighters list, and you want to make something a link (make it so that you can click on it and automatically takes you to the fighters profile), just write the name of the fighter and put it inside [[]] so it looks like fighters name. That will automatically take you to the page of the fighter as long as the spelling is the same. Also, the name of the fighter always has Caps at first and Last name (eg. Frank Edgar)
If you want to make a list of something (eg. submission list) and you want the subs to go one underneath the other you cant just press enter as the words will just appear next to eachother. To make them descend, just use * as you would a bullet point. So it should look like this
etc.
If you are looking for something specific and can not find a link to it on the main page (eg. UFC) just use the search button on the left side of the screen. It will give you numerous pages (a bit like google) and you can find which one is right from there.
Now to get to the slightly more advanced part of writing a fighwiki page. Creating a table. What I mean by this is the table showing a fighters record (shows win method, opponent, event title etc.) To start off a table you MUST do the following.
| at the beginning of each one and | at the end of each one. then once you have written all the titles just put in||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| result | method | round | event title | date |
| you use | ok? | |||
| win | Armbar | 1 | UFC 1 | 16 April 1901 |
So when complete it should basically look like
| result | method | event | date |
|---|---|---|---|
| win | Armbar | UFC 200 | 22 October 2010 |
This is an example of a fully completed one I did. Fabricio Werdum...
| Result | Opponent | Method | Event | Round |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| win | Brandon Vera | TKO | UFC 85 Bedlam | 1 |
| win | Gabriel Gonzaga | TKO | UFC 80 Rapid Fire | 2 |
| loss | Andrei Arlovski | Unanimous Decision | UFC 70 Nations Collide</td | 3 |
| win | Aleksander Emelianenko | Submission(Arm Triangle) | 2H2H | 1 |
| loss | Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira | Unanimous Decision | PRIDE Critical Countdown Absolute | 3 |
| win | Alistair Overeem | submission (Kimura) | PRIDE Total Elimination | 2 |
| win | Jon Olav Einemo | Unanimous Decision | PRIDE 31 | 3 |
| loss | Sergei Kharitonov | Split Decision | PRIDE 30 | 3 |
| win | Roman Zentsov | Armbar/Triangle | PRIDE Final Conflict 2005 | 2 |
| win | Tom Erickson | submission | PRIDE 29 | 1 |
| win | Ebenezer Fontes Braga | KO | JF2 | 2 |
| win | Gabriel Gonzaga | TKO | JF1 | 3 |
| win | Kristof Midoux | Submission(Triangle) | WAFF | 1 |
| draw | James Zikic | draw | MB 8 | 3 |
| win | Tengiz Tedoradze | Submission(Triangle) | MB7 | 1 |
Now, to upload a picture (eg. fighter picture or submission picture) Just find a picture you like from the web, and save it. Then Go to upload file at the bottom of the Left menu. Then when your in it click on choose file. Choose the file and accept, the pic should come up. Then copy the name of the pic once uploaded then paste the link on the fighter's page. HL it and click on the image button (Its one of the buttons just above where you type in to edit the page). Then it should appear on the page.
And that just about explains most of what you need to know about contributing to fightwiki. Now go out there and post your heart out!! Thanks, eggyegg (Global Moderator)
