Biography
Duane started practicing Muay Thai when he was 15 years old.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
Ludwig was trained by Bas Rutten during his early career.
Ludwig holds the unofficial UFC knockout record at four seconds, over Jonathan Goulet, though a timing error by a Nevada State Athletic Commission official leaves the official record at 11 seconds.
UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva seemed cursed, as so many fighters were dropping out of bouts due to injury. So on December 17, 2009, when it was announced that Sean Sherk, who was actually a replacement for Tyson Griffin, had sustained a deep cut during training and would not be able to compete against Jim Miller, Ludwig was announced as Miller's new opponent for the January 2, 2010 card. After trading blows early in the first round, Miller finally connected on a right hand that sent Ludwig careening to the mat. He followed Ludwig to the canvas, delivered additional punches, moved into mount, and then forced the tapout with an Armbar.
It was announced mid-January 2010 that Ludwig would return to action at UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones on March 21, 2010 to face off against Spencer Fisher. Unfortunately Fisher was forced off the card, and he was replaced by Darren Elkins. The event was the first UFC event to air live on Versus, as compared to SpikeTV. After shaking off a few takedown attempts, Ludwig wasn't as effective on the third and was sent to the canvas. However, on the way down, his ankle stuck to the mat and twisted grotesquely under his own weight. Elkins quickly realized something was wrong and backed away from his ailing opponent. Referee Tim Mills took a quick look and then waved off the fight just 44 seconds after its start due to the left-ankle injury.
