Cole Province is an American mixed martial artist who competes as a Featherweight. He is currently competing with the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). Province was suspended nine months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission following an administrative hearing, according to Keith Kizer, Executive Director of the NSAC. Province will not be cleared to fight until early May of 2010. The 28-year-old Oklahoma resident was placed on temporary suspension eight days after a unanimous decision win over Fredson Paixao at WEC 42: Torres vs. Bowles when a post-fight urinalysis revealed the presence of designer steroid Methasterone. The win was overturned by the NSAC to a No Contest.
After competing once outside of the WEC, Province returned at WEC 51: Aldo vs. Gamburyan, where he faced off against former WEC Featherweight Champion Mike Brown. Brown quickly dropped Province with an uppercut and then continued the assault on the mat. The former champion delivered a dozen unanswered blows until referee Eric Heinz halted the bout in just 78 seconds.
