Biography
Despite holding a college degree in Kinesiology, Caraway and girlfriend Miesha Tate, also a professional fighter, left their jobs and their home so that they could train full-time. The couple currently live in an RV that is parked in the backyard of trainer and former UFC fighter Dennis Hallman.
The end game for Caraway is to not only train full-time, but fight full-time by finding a steady home with a major national promotion so that he can begin to earn a living wage from fighting.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
After earning three consecutive Rear Naked Choke victories in 2006 (including one win over future The Ultimate Fighter 5 participant Noah Thomas), Caraway faced John Gunderson for the DesertBrawl Lightweight Championship, in Gunderson's first title defense. Gunderson retained his title by defeating Caraway by way of Armbar.
Caraway bounced back from the loss by submitting his next six opponents, before making his first high-profile appearance at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Thomson. He faced Alvin Cacdac, where he defeated his opponent by Rear Naked Choke early in the first round.
He next faced fellow up-and-comer Wilson Reis on July 26, 2008 at EliteXC: Unfinished Business. The bout was featured on Showtime, and Caraway's seven-fight win streak was cut short, as he lost a Decision (Unanimous).
WEC Career
Caraway next went 3-0 in his next fights, including an appearance on ShoMMA 2, before he he signed a multi-fight deal with World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) in late 2009. He made his debut against former TKO Featherweight Champion Mark Hominick, as a replacement for an injured Yves Jabouin. The bout took place on January 10, 2010 at WEC 46: Varner vs. Henderson, and Caraway got caught in a fight ending Triangle Armbar at 3:48 of the first round.
Caraway was to return to action at WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz against Fredson Paixao, but was forced off the card, and was replaced by Courtney Buck.
Personal Life
Bryan is dating fellow Victory Athletics fighter Miesha Tate.
