Bellator Fighting Championships
Bellator Fighting Championships (BFC) is a mixed martial arts promotion based in the United States. Bellator, which is Latin for "Warrior," was the first MMA promotion to provide direct access to the Hispanic market by utilizing Spanish ring announcing and commentary plus Hispanic talent. Its events are organized into seasons with each event hosting the rounds of championship.
For its first season Bellator broadcast its fights nationally in the United States through an exclusive television agreement with ESPN Deportes and also around the world through a collection of broadcast agreements.
Due to its success in its first season, Bellator returned for second and third seasons throughout 2010 with weekly two-hour broadcasts on Fox Sports Net. Highlight packages of each event or the two 11 week seasons were shown on NBC, Telemundo, Mun2 and The Score.
On December 14th, 2010, Bellator officially announced that it will be broadcasting its events live on MTV2 (rumors had been circulating that a deal had been reached to broadcast events on FX). The MTV2 deal is for three years and will begin with Bellator's fourth season in March 2011. Bellator further announced in February 2011, that a Spanish broadcast of the fourth season would be available Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más.
At the beginning of Season Five it was announced that the Season Five tournaments would be simulcast in high definition on EPIX.
