McGregor vs Brandao Full Fight Results: With one of the craziest fight nights in recent history all wrapped up, we take a look ahead at some future matchups for the UFC Fight Night 45 winners from the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland, which took place Saturday, July 19th, 2014.

Conor McGregor blasted through who many thought was supposed to be his toughest test to date in Diego Brandao, taking the center of the cage immediately and making the Brazilian react to his offensive attacks. To Brandao’s credit, he did come in shape and gave himself every chance he could to win that fight. It was just Conor’s conundrum of strikes that took their toll on the Brazilian’s face, as he landed spin kicks and left hands until his opponent went tumbling to the canvas. Word around is that the fighting Irishman’s next bout will be opposite Dustin “Diamond” Poirier sometime this year. Now that should be a stern test for the brash featherweight.

Norman Parke didn’t waste any time getting started on Saturday against Naoyuki Kotani. Though Kotani wouldn’t really bring the fight to him it was Parke who forced the action from bell-to-bell, bullying his smaller opponent in the stand up before bringing him down. Kotani offered little resistance as Parke could posture up enough to land repeated punches and elbows before the ref stepped in to stop the bout. Parke might not have had his best showings in the past but he still continues to get better fight in and fight out. I’d say we give him the winner of Jorge Masvidal vs Darron Cruickshank on July 26 at UFC on Fox 12: Lawler vs Brown to find out exactly what level he’s at in the lightweight category.

There has been some talk about Gunnar Nelson taking a steep step up in competition to face No. 2 ranked Rory MacDonald, but the chances of that fight actually getting booked are slim to none. In the fight with Zak Cummings, he laid back and waited for the finishing sequence to sort of fall into his hands. He’s spoke in the past about how important he thinks it is to feel your opponent’s energy and movement before attacking. But when Cummings was mostly just waiting around and throwing flurries of punches and knees in close when he could, that’s when Nelson decided to turn up the tempo and take the fight to the ground, softening him up using ground strikes before sinking in the rear naked in the second round. I think Ultimate Fighter winner Kelvin Gastelum could use a formidable opponent for his next bout.

Ian McCall actually looked great for how long he sat out between this fight and his last outing against Iliarde Santos in Brazil. Brad Pickett stayed in his face the entire time and never really took a step back, and McCall was lighting him up on the feet because of it. There were some good exchanges in the first couple rounds that could have swayed the judges the way of the brit, but it was crystal clear by the end of the fight that McCall had put forth the most output of the two in this one and rightfully took the win. After getting the unanimous nod over a tough guy like Pickett, I think it’s time for Ian to see another heated battle. A fight with John Lineker would be ideal for both fighters’ careers.
