He DID look impressive and competitive against Rich. But his chin did not.

I'm willing to bet that Chuck was the unnamed example James Thompson mentioned in his most recent article where he talked about GHB use contributing to a wobbly brain. James noticed significant differences in his ability to take punches, and would get dropped during practice (which never happened before). The full extent of the side-effects of GHB are still not understood.
When mixed with alcohol you become semi-retarded, woozy, and slur your speech, and this is exactly what we saw in the infamous Chuck talk show video. Of course it's not certain, but I think the pieces fit pretty nicely here.

Coleman had a pretty odd post fight interview after losing his retirement fight when he started cussing out Tito from the crowd
"If one truly knows K-1 and watches the MAX tournaments as a WHOLE then it would be obvious to come up with these conclusions: Masato "The Great". Andy "The Genius" Souwer. Giorgio "The Prodigy" Petrosyan. Buakaw "The Overrated" Pramuk"

There was nothing glorious about evan tanner's unfortunate end.
Coleman's final moment was also a low note.
Fedor beating geoff monson at a county fair is a terribly unfitting end to the career of one of the best to ever do it.

Chuck went out like a man. He believed in himself and thought that he still had what it took to fight the best in the world, he fought hard for a chance to prove himself again. The result wasn't the desired one, but at least he pushed himself to the point where he knew (pardon the pun) that he frankly didn't have what it took anymore.

I think this thread should really be all about who went out the best. Because there are very few that know when to stop. They ruin their legacy. It's so easy to forget now how monstrous the likes of Cropcop were. That dude was such a scary guy but it never really happened for him in the UFC. But seriously I can't think of one legend, apart from maybe Bas Rutten who went out on a high.

Hidehiko Yoshida. Losing to James Thompson and then finally Kaz Nakamura.

Vovchanchyn sputtered out pretty badly too, getting KO'ed for the only time ever by Cro Cop, then guillotined by Overeem and finally out-grappled by Kaz Nakamura.

Kaz Nakamura is the career killer

To be honest I thought Igor deserved to win that fight.

It's weird with Chuck...The stats don't lie and getting KO'd four out of your last 6 fights is a terrible way to go. But in all those fights I thought he looked dangerous. He wasn't out classed and looked like he thoroughly belonged there. And yet each time he "just got caught" as he liked to call it. None of those dudes ran through chuck.
