What Is the Legal Age to Train/Fight in Your State?

Postby philo36 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 8:24 pm

I'm 16, and I live in Ohio. If I follow the rules I'm not even allowed to train at my age yet. Where could I go to get some training or get a fight if I wanted to?

I'm pretty sure to fight you have to be at least 18 years old anywhere. In terms of training, though, I would just google "mma training in (your city here)" and see what comes up. Thats what I did when I found the gym that I used to train in.

I forgot you said you lived in Ohio. I just googled it and this link is what I found:

The question that once haunted my being has been answered. The future is not fixed, my choices are my own....and yet how ironic, for I now have no choice at all. I am a warrior, let the battle be joined. - Dinobot

Can't start training yet? That sucks. In my club they have children's muay thai birthday parties lol.
Is this not a reasonable place to park?

i believe kids should not train in such vile ways like mma, perhaps tennis, soccer, or possible b ball. whatever happened to fishing clubs and chess clubs. reason i say no kids under 16 they're going to act like there life is like from the movie never back down...why u ask ? well kids are dum and immature as hell and prone to making poor descions. its horrible idea.

I don't think there is an age limit to train in Texas but I'm pretty sure you have to be at least 18 to fight maybe 17 with your guardian's approval

If you really want to get in the ring experience you would probably have to take up another sport for now, boxing, muay thai, kickboxing, karate, bjj and judo should all have divisions for you. If you have not started training yet though you might want to just train for 2 years and then take a fight if you feel ready. Don't rush it.
Looking for Sig Bets, I got:
Cat Zingano > Miesha Tate (Tron)
Cormier > Mir
Vitor > Rockhold (Tron)
Werdum > Mir
Cezar > Dollaway

I've been wrestling since I was 5 and boxing since I was 8 with karate since I was 12. I've been training locally, but the problem is I'm the only guy that is regularly at the gym. Most of the time when I show up it's completely empty.
