So second fight in a row he gasses? time to take the association off of Carwin and give it to Ellenberger officially.

Meh, who cares if he gasses.
He is a first round fighter. He puts it all out there in the first round and if he can't beat you in 5 min going all out, most likely your just better than him then. A lot of fighters, kick boxers and grapplers employ this type of strategy. It is a pretty smart one actually if you think about it. Most guys come out really slow and want to take it easy to have the energy for 3-5 rounds. If you go take it to them and they are not ready then you are at a huge intensity advantage as long as you are staying technical and crisp.

Ellenbergers power is a little over rated when you look at his skills from that point of view. He just puts a ton of effort into all of his punches.
Not to take away from him at all though, he is a great fighter and not a total douche.

This sums it up for me. I like to start slow and i hate when someone goes all out in the first round, nothing bring out my rage more than someone trying to HL reel me.

Jake is a first minute fighter not first round. Once he couldn't get the finish in the first minute he just layed on top of martin and and did nothing, until his cardio is better he wont be winning big fights.

i still think he has tools that could GSP some problems if the two fought. and yes, i think he would have a chance at beating him. am i saying i would consider him a favorite against GSP? nope, but i do think he would have a legit chance.

Eh, I don't know, he seemed very sour at his loss, no grace in defeat, he did his post fight interview with a clenched jaw looking like he wanted to KO Jon Anik, giving the stock answer of "he was the better man" in a very forced sounding manner. Then again, I don't think I like Anik's tactic of interviewing the fight loser constantly, hardly anyone wants to talk immediately after getting beat down.

I'm glad Kampmann beat Ellenberger, I like Kampmann better and he's a bit more dynamic in his fighting style. I couldn't see Jake fighting GSP anyway, but GSP vs. Kampmann is very intriguing.

the losers of the main events have ALWAYS been interviewed, and most of the time the co-main event loser is interviewed as well. and i do not hold it against a guy if he is mad after losing.

I mean jake is a solid wrestler that throws real real hard... i feel he can beat anyone in the division because unlike hendrix he isn't just a one punch pony. This question came up like Jake wasn't winning every second of the fight until those 3 knees landed. All that's going to happen is jake is going to get another fight... I feel bad for whoever it is... he is probably going to KO him... and then KO someone else and be right back in the picture. The guy is a fucking beast. I actually had my money on Kampann... and thought I dropped the ball because Kampmann wasn't table to do him like he did story...

but we will soon see who Joe Silva's least favorite top WW is because that's the guy who will have to face Jake next. If I was Jon Fitch and Kos I wud b on the phone right now saying I wanted to fight in the next 3 months so that Jake won't have time to get a med clearing and training camp in before then.

Rory Mcdonald is better than ellenburger. I have been saying it since they both came onto the scene and I still say it now. He has better wins on his record and has better technique.

The ability to take punishment but give back more.

Fixed that for ya. And I totally agree with your assessment of Martin. I guess I never gave him credit for having a decent jaw and great heart. Always liked him but totally neglected those 2 aspects of his game.

 = H20 haha Thanks. I was getting my elements mixed up. I bet he did want some water too.

Yes, he's pathetic for having this happen to him..

..by Martin "Hands of Stone" Kampmann. Just absolutely pathetic, and glass chinned.

Yet you cower behind your keyboard criticizing people for doing something that you don't have the courage to do.

Are you sure you know what "cower" means? I'm cowering behind my keyboard just because Ellenberger is a glass jaw, bro - detective Iknowuwannabeme is on the case.

According to you anyone who has ever been rocked in a fight has a glass jaw. Maybe your pathetic.

No, just anyone that has been rocked in a fight by Martin Kampmann slaps or is named Barboza. I suspect that you are also a glass jaw, you just "don't have the courage" (lolwut) to do what these other guys do and have it shattered, bro.

I've never been imprezzed with Ellenberger, and I don't understand why anyone thought this guy would be anything more than WW's version of James Irving. He's a wrestler who thinks he's a world class striker because he knocked out some cans.

That being said, watching the fight I didn't think he was actually "rocked" by that little punch from Kampmann. Hell, he throws two pretty decent looking punches after hitting hit;

Instead, while watching (and now looking again at sdbolt's gifs), I thought Ellenberger blew out his left knee while twisting to punch.

I could be wrong, but when he sort of staggers away, it looks like his knee is very unstable-- looks like a blown ACL-- and he sort of tests it when he rights himself and waits for Kampmann to approach.

I'd be interested in hearing the medical suspensions.

That's what I believed happened as well when I first saw the fight and noticed his knee bending in strange directions. You can't stop some people from believing absolutely everything to be the result of glass jaws though.
