his fight with Hendo was the best his cardio has looked in ages. It was a FAST paced back and forth war with battle in all positions. He was able to go hard for 5 rounds, where as in say the first Machida fight, the last time his cardio was really stellar, he really fought at his own pace he was never pushed.

I think Shogun cardio issues show up either when he trains to quickly coming off of surgery and lack of motivation for some challenges.

Well Hendo may have pushed him but i still feel that he looked flat and slow on his feet. He has a great chin and is tough but without top notch movement like when he fought Machida he is just a brawler instead of an excellent kickboxer. The Shogun that fought Machida would have moved and covered up and then kicked Hendo's legs and ribs in. If Hendo took him down he would have defended, created space and stood back up. Basically a top notch, healthy Shogun is much better than Dan Henderson

The issue is Shogun in his heart, is a true warrior. He loves the war. When a guy like Hendo throws down he will ALWAYS ablige. where as his bout was alot more technical he was able to move away after every attack catch his breath never really get involved with anything that would REALLY tire him out.
