Hunt doesn't deserve a shot as yet.

He's coming off of wins over Rothwell and Kongo, two guys Cain beat on his way to the title. Sure he doesn't have teh Nog win, but Hunt would be stepping in as a replacement. Rothwell plus Kongo plus short notice equals fine to me.


It's not even close to the most fraudlent title shot the UFC has had, so why not?

This is all true, and couple this with the fact that all other potential worthy replacements are already scheduled fights, and I'd be perfectly fine with Mark Hunt stepping in. Also as you and l13 said there have been much worse title shots given out, and this one even has the short notice excuse.

Timmeh!! Tim.. wtf am I talking about... JDS can just have some extra recovery time I guess, since Fedor is out of the question. Hunt would make a decent bandaid, he has being a Pride OG workin for him (/shrug).

Hunt matches up really well with JDS. If JDS can't get him down, Hunt could prove to be a superior striker. Hunt hasn't earned it yet though. Give him a wrestler before a shot at the title. JDS already proved he could handle both top level grapplers and strikers, Hunt has not.

I vote yes...not because Hunt deserves it but because I want to see Mir vs Cain so bad..With his chin and power Hunt has as good a chance as anyone else

At this point, I don't give a fuck if Hunt deserves it. That's the most exciting fight with JDS that Dana can make besides Overeem. I'd like to see him get that shot because if he ended up getting the belt, it'd probably go down as one of the craziest stories in MMA history.

If Kongo had beaten Hunt he would of been the guy that would of been most likely to step in. Kongo was unbeaten since 09 with a draw & 3 wins so I don't think the UFC would of hesitated. Hunt then went in there & put on a Kongo massacre that even Frank Mir would be envious of. So, I think think Hunt is more than justified. He's also in training for a fight anyway & never took any hits in his last outing.

Why not Mark Hunt? Enough people wont stop throwing Fedor's name into the ring and looking at the last 3 fights of both fighters, not only does Hunt have more wins but those wins are against good fighters....Unlike who Fedor fights now who isnt under the Zuffa banner.

it was his first fight after like 4 years man...he beat kongo - that tall dude...???big country...and i dont remember who else..i think he is 3 in a row..if his name was fucking brock lesnar....he would have been the undisputed number one contender..bollocks to the ufc...if they want big ppvs they should put hunt against dos santos...hunt will probably lose...probably...but it sure as hell will not be a boring fight..
