40g of protein in a protein shake should be consumed within 30 minutes of a strength training workout.

yea, just drink protein shakes. what nutritionists mean by eating naturally is that you don't eat anything that is processed, because you have carbohydrates that don't fuel you and sometimes refined sugar. with protein shakes, you're basically just consuming a lot of protein at one time, along with whatever else you put in it.

You may be over working your body and not intaking enough calories. Try and cutting down a few hours throughout the week and eat more. Time is very precious...

Another thing, At 18 depending on ur genetics ur metab is still going nuts. It's gonna be hard to put on actual weight/size at ur age especially with as much cardio type workouts as you are doing. Ur muscle density should be increasing but that doesn't really show up readily. Just give it some time man and make sure to get some protein in ur body immediatly following ur workouts. Any kinda workout. It worked for me. I went from 140 to 195 (i fight WW) in about a year. Almost all muscle. I cut down on overdoing the cardio(and burning off muscle). GL!

You probably aren't eating enough, or resting enough.

You need to be eating about 3000-4000 calories a day if you're doing it that hard, and try protein shakes, like Smith said, I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey.

Just don't get vanilla.

Could be a chance that you aren't giving your body enough rest. I kind of know where my limit is and I have to balance weight training and my cardio. Swimming is a pretty intense workout in itself, and if you lift and then swim for 2-3, you could just be fatiguing your muscles and not getting the growth you want.
