How sad is it that people actually argue "3 wins" for a fighter like fedor to say that he hasn't gone out on an extremely low note

Unlike the Fedor huggers, real fans of the guy know those last three "wins" were still a low note.

I would actually say Chuck and Crocop ended their careers worse though.

Don't get me wrong, Fedor's end was very bittersweet, but I'm positive there are lower career-ending notes out there (especially considering the topic is about the "lowest note").

Chuck's was way worse than Randy since he was on a big losing streak, looked like he might win and then through his face into hand of his injured opponent for the assist on yet another KO loss. Randy got caught with a complete 'wtf?' and highlight reel quality move. Extreme Couture now practices a whole lot more front kicks though (thanks to Black House).

Is it fair to mention BJ Penn after his loss to Nick Diaz??? Even though he did come back.. He ended his career for a short time... I thought he went out like a b**** to be frank.. crying to Joe, and then storming the internet talking sh** about Nicks tactics...

Have to disagree with Liddell and Couture. Both went out on their sword, so to speak, giving it their all. Randy fought a long sought after fight to test himself, and Chuck looked competitive against Rich.

Lamest would have to be someone like Brock, completely outclassed.

Brock had one of the lamest exits for sure, but the thread title says "Which GREAT fighter..."

Saku and Liddell are up there for sure, but I think Saku trumps Chuck because he lost to b and c level fighters where as Chuck's last 3 losses were Shogun, Evans and Franklin.

Royce Gracie has to be mentioned. He won a controversial decision against Saku and tested positive for steroids. Not a good way to end a legendary career.

The only difference is that Chuck was still in big leagues and thought he could do it and ends with 3 ko loses. Saku must have needed the money I'm guessing and just went from shit show to shittier show. He had to know he was well past washed up. I'm not sure which one is more sad?

Yeah I don't think anyone is exactly thrilled about the last few years of Fedor's career, but its hard to say its even in the running for "lowest" note, ending with three DOMINANT wins and his last match being a viscous ko in front of a gigantic audience including the president of his country, etc... basically a hero's send off for him, whether it was against relevant competition or not.

I can't speak for all of the other nuthuggers, but I think its safe to say we all wanted to see him go to the UFC and wreck everyone, take the title and then retire.

I just don't see how the way he went out is anywhere close to Chuck, Cro Cop, Tito, etc... Other guys who were dominant and then just got their asses kicked over and over again looking for a comeback and then finally gave up... or guys like Shamrock who still haven't given up.

Sakuraba.

Sakuraba fought well past his prime, and then fought many years after that. It was sad to see him the last 2=3 years still fighting. The samurai should have went home to watch over the land long ago.

As much as i hate to agree...Fedor's was pretty lame....3 worthless wins dont make up for getting sunk by hendo...i was disappointed.

i dont think Fedor's journey to retirement was as bad as people make it seem. getting caught in a choke by werdum or KO'd by Hendo can happen to just about anyone who fights those 2. if he rematched werdum he'd probably win by tko. if he rematched hendo the fight could look exactly the same with either guy landing the finishing shot. Silva was his only loss that would probably happen the same exact way again just based on how they match up.

i agree that his last few wins werent impressive but his losses werent that bad, they just happened for 3 fights straight.
