The fact is, Prime Cro Cop WOULD beat MOST fighters today, just like he beat MOST fighters back then. Anyone who doesn't see how far he declined after multiple injuries and surgeries is clearly either blind or completely lacking basic observational skills.

hes talked about it and it was big talk back then as there were questions about fedor... he said the fight was fine till zzga got him down, being from pride once he was down he wasnt aware elbows were allowed, once gabe hit him with that elbow shot, crocop himself said he was pretty much out of it. it was something he didnt train for and didnt think would happen and when it did it knocked him loopy, then said the head kick was just the finishing touch. people feared this about fedors cage fights atleast his first couple wiht the rule changes

Prime Cro Cop got beat by Gonzaga....Once people figured out the way to negate a lot of Cro Cop's stand up skill's (i.e to walk him down rather than letting him walk you down) he wasn't nearly as effective...

This is coming from a huge Cro Cop fan too...He was always dangerous and he likely would have been a top fighter, but I doubt he would be as dominant as he was during Pride...The constant knee injuries kept him from making a huge dent in the UFC HW division but he always went out to entertain and i loved him for it...

Should he have been in his prime when he was in the UFC I would expect that he'd be a perennial top 5 guy in the division, but he came into the UFC at the very end of his prime, and that kick from Gonzaga only took the rest of his prime away.

That kick would've knocked out a fucking bear though so that's really nothing against Mirko.
