Actually, I wasn't pissed at Guida at all. I know it's not what most "fight fans" think, but I thought Guida fought a great fight. The strategy was almost perfect and it definitely got into Maynard's head. The fight was close, and though I wanted Guida to win, perhaps Maynard deserved it due to a few more landed strikes and the takedown.

I don't care what anybody says (whether it's Dana White or the hardcore fan), these guys fight to win. If you're typically a brawler like Guida is, but you and your team make style adjustments because it doesn't suit the next opponent...well, that just makes sense to me.

But I know, everyone wants to see a dog fight, especially in the main event. Well I prefer strategic and intelligent fighting.

It is one thing to have a gameplan and stick to it. It is completely different to go into the cage and not engage for five rounds! Guida didn't even really fight, and the shots he did land were because Gray through his defense out the window because he had to chase Guida around the ring for five rounds. Bouncing around and running is not fighting. It isn't strategic and intelligent in any way shape or form. If he was actually punching during all of that nonsense I would tend to agree with you.

What Guida did was bullshit and I am so happy the Judges got one right. Gray got himself some fans that night, me and that entire room.

According to fightmetric (http://hosteddb.fightmetric.com/fights/index/3930), he was actually striking. He had 327 total strikes, compared with 229 by Maynard. Maynard landed 3 more strikes than Guida did.

So obviously, he was bouncing around, running, AND striking.

Fight metric counts feints as strikes.......

Well then damn, Guida should have won based solely on that.

AGAIN.... Guida landed LESS strikes, had no octagon control, was never the aggressor, and didnt land a single takedown..... so on what planet does all that equal victory?

According to Jason Guida, Clay should've won because Maynard got frustrated.

I'm with DPino on this one, bud. Clay may have thrown 327 total strikes, but that truly means dog shit when you're swinging without the intention of connecting. The only way Clay gets a pass for all the missed punches is if there was a gang of mosquito's in the cage that the cameras couldn't pick up. I'll admit that he controlled the pace in the first round. After that it was all Maynard.

To be fair, Jason landed more strikes than Clay did that night.
