That's awesome. Cops generally have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to what they can and can't actually legally do. Its amazing how clueless and/or knowingly out of line they are.

I didn't say he was in the wrong, I said he was a douche, which he clearly was. The officer was being polite and he was being a smart ass. Doesn't mean he's wrong though; being a smart ass isn't a crime.

There are a lot of things one can do within one's rights but that doesn't mean you can memorize a bunch of maybe not even applicable court trials, go out into the streets waving a gun around with your camcorder in hand waiting for cops to show up, try to humiliate them and not expect to be hassled.

Honestly he's lucky no private citizens who ALSO own guns and aren't self=important morons--not to mention have less patience than the cop--didn't roll up on that guy. Owning a gun doesn't mean you're invincible.

And in this particular instance, there's no reason to say "fuck the cops bro" or whatever else. They did nothing wrong to him. Didn't detain him and let him go after 5 minutes of him babbling with an exposed firearm  .

say you get into an argument and lose your cool and decide to blast the mofo . would your views change? would you still think guns should be allowed in public?

so he is a smart ass because he let the police know they were illegally detaining him, and not only did he let them know he let them know the exact case law they were in violation of. to me thats not being a smart ass its being an educated person who knows their rights.

you may not have had any run ins with the cops in your life but i have and they truthfully believe they can do whatever they want and unless you prove to them that you know the law as good or better than them they will try everything they can to get information out of you. you may believe what you have been told but i dont, i know from experience that the police are corrupt and will lie to you every chance they get. they will try and get you to consent to searches by lying to you, they will manufacture probable cause, they will stop people solely based on the color of their skin, etc, etc.

if every american was as educated as this guy was then the police wouldnt be able to get away with half of the shit they do now.

you may see the officer as being polite, what i saw was the cops harassing an innocent person and trying to illegally detain him. notice how the supervisor didnt say a word in the video? he did that because he knew his officer was in the wrong. just because you do something polity doesnt mean its right
In reference to Jojo

Yes, I have indeed had dealings with the police.
When I was in my early twenties, I was pulled over a few times by the police. I was a young man driving a relatively expensive and powerful car.
Over here, to pull someone over the driver must have committed a driving infringement or as in this case, the officer must have reasonable suspicion of a crime (this may have changed now with Stop And Search, but was definitely the case 10 years ago.)

I was fully aware they had no reason to pull me over, as on every occasion they told me it was 'a routine stop'. I didn't make a fuss as it really didn't overly inconvenience me. If they can catch a few baddies by asking people a few questions, I've got no problem with that.

If the police had been rude to me, I may well have let them know I knew my rights, but I certainly wouldn't have used the condescending tone he took.

If you really think the way he was speaking to the officer was not smart-ass, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

This might not be the first time that they have harassed him so maybe thats why he used that tone, I've been harassed by police multiple times and I am not about to act like buddys with them. When the police start acting like police MEN and police WOMEN again maybe they will get the respect of the people again, if they continue to act like police officers and henchmen for the corporations well sir, as the good men of NWA one said "F*ck the police".

Knowing your rights isn't the same as being a smartass. If however you decide to google some court trials and then take a walk around town with a loaded gun and a camcorder just to be able to post a "fuck the police" video on youtube, then yes, you're just being a smartass.

The fact that he most probably had his camcorder rolling when the cops showed up (as KC already stated) and decided to post his video on youtube, only serves to show that the guy was just waiting for this whole situation to arise to that he could demonstrate his mad law skills.

Camcorder? Bro this aint the 90s lol My guess is that when the police took the gun off of him he started recording from his cell phone, people start recording their altercations with the police to protect themselves a bunch of times theres loads of instances on YouTube, its a smart thing to do.

I'm ganna rule a Premeditated on this. He seems to know his shit about the laws and the past court case or what not; you could tell that theres minimum stuttering in his replies.

there was also a video on youtube about some guy who recorded himself going through a police checkpoint and refusing to cooperate because he doesn't consent to the search. Ultimately they let him go and he got his video. People do these shits on the real for attentions.

I stand by my "fuck the police" comment based on my own experiences and based on the fact that police abuse their power all the time...and occasionally even get in trouble for it. I don't go out of my way to be disrespectful to them, and I realize they are necessary..and when they do fuck with me I realize that they are in the position of power, and I'm only going to fuck myself over by being an asshole to them like I'd like to be...

One example is when my house was broken in to... One cop finally showed up..there was blood from an intruder because my dog was doing his job and did some damage. The cop just asked a few questions, refused to check for any prints or take any samples from the blood, and basically told me the only way the guy was ever going to get caught is if he got caught for something else and they found my property on him. I had knocked on neighbors doors while waiting for the cop to arrive, and 3 of the 5 neighbors that answered had also been broken in recently....cops couldn't care less...

As I said in my post, this guy may or may not have been looking to make a point and being a jackass...but for all we know the cops fucked with the wrong dude that knew his rights, and decided to film the event on his cell phone. I don't see any evidence that shows anything else from that video.

You guys can have your opinions on gun rights...but the 2nd amendment is pretty clear on it..and in AZ where I live they have very lax gun laws and let the general public carry guns for their own protection. If this policy was creating big problems then it would be all over the media. Fact is, law abiding citizens that carry a gun RARELY use it when they shouldn't. I'm from KS, and laws there are similar, and there has never been a shooting in KS involving someone with their concealed carry license. Ppl who get their licenses just want to be able to protect themselves and their families, and are generally very educated about their rights, and when they should and shouldn't use them.

Just because guns can be carried in public places..does not mean they can be carried in to any private business.. That's why grocery stores, gas stations, bars, etc etc have signs posted that you can bring your gun in. They are private businesses and they have their rights to make that rule.

Maybe we should just make anything that could potentially hurt someone illegal to protect the public. Maybe we should all stay locked in our homes and make sure nothing bad happens. Cops overstep their limits all the time...they could give a fuck about our rights...and they justify the harassment by just what someone else said... "If they have to harass a few ppl to catch a few bad guys then so be it.." If you don't understand the direction that leads our society and the problems that attitude leads to....well, you don't have an understanding of what this country was founded on and you can count yourself in the majority that has brought us to where we are now.

^This. He's wandering the streets with an exposed firearm, and evidently a running video recorder. If he had the exposed weapon and *didn't* have the video camera running with the cops rolled up, he would have had to dig into his pocket to get it out which would have led to completely different circumstances than what happened here.

And congrats to him for memorizing the names of random court trials. The cops should have detained him, cleared him, and then let him go, not stood there and let him babble on. He's walking around with an open firearm for fucks sake. What did he think was going to happen?

Open carry is legal, look it up. Concealing a fire arm is much more illegal. The cop would have gotten unpaid time off if he actually arrested him.
The guy is obviously a lobbyist or activist for gun rights and does this to educate people on gun control laws and how they are mis understood. People do this shit all the time, just like someone with a sign picketing for something.
As far as memorizing the random court trials, those are just landmark cases about gun control that are spouted off at any tea party or NRA meeting. Most landmark legal cases are to define a precident or law.
