POLL: Will Nate change his mind about fighting sooner?

Postby drunkendood » Mon May 07, 2012 2:12 pm

Somehow I doubt Nate will wait for the winner of Edgar and Henderson. It's looking like he'll have to wait til late 2012 or early 2013 for that title shot.

My guess is Nate takes a month or so off and then decides he wants to fight late Sept or early Oct.

Then again I'm not sure how much dough Nate pulled from his most recent fight - maybe he'll rest on his laurels?
Ed, if you hear me, I think of you often.

I'm pretty sure he was offered this fight or wait for a title shot and he decided to wait. Dana confirmed he earned it during the post fight. I could see him taking another fight though. Especially with a 8+ month layoff

It's the Jim Miller effect. Embarass him = auto title shot. Of course he will wait, by that time Nick will come back form his retirement. I just hope while everyone is waiting and getting rematches, Pettis is improving in all his weaknesses, and accentuating his strengths, because I believe he will take the belt from any fighter in the LW class as it is.

I think they to just stop offering to let guys wait, it creates log jams and on top of that if you can make the match b4 the champion is ready go ahead and make it . If a fighter doesn't want to take the fight that's their call but to flat out offer to let the sit on the side lines instead of trying to put on an exciting fight is just bad business

i think it depends on how much money he made this fight, if he needs more money he'll fight but if he's set then he'll definitely wait. its not as if he loves fighting people, i think he'd rather just train, stay in shape and be with his friends and fam.

For some one like nate, who has been looking great, but in the past has lost some top fights against good wrestlers. It make s the most sense for him to spend as much time as possible training tdd defensive, getting up from the bottom, defensive clinch. IMO he beats edgar rather easy but bendo will be a tougher fight. why risk fighting pettis and having to deal with his HL kicks if he can first get a title shot first. One title shot is lots of money, win the bet get more money. defend title more money, First Diaz champ in UFC, finally surpase his brothers fame, All seems worth it too me.

Pettis is currently pissed off about not receiving the title shot he earned. I totally agree with him on that. I thought after Nate's victory that for sure Pettis vs Diaz winner gets the title shot. Then I hear Dana is so impressed with nate's destruction of jimmy. As far as what WILL happen... I have no idea, but right now Diaz vs Pettis makes the most sense.

dude honestly pettis hasnt earned shit, he lost to guida, barely beat jeremy stephens and had a nice ko his last fight vs joe. joes a good fighter but he's definitely not at the top of the division and beating him doesnt warrant a title shot imo. he needs to beat a top guy like diaz just did to earn a shot at the belt

I really hope he does wait.... Pettis said in an interview with Ariel Hewlani that The NBK laid the blue print to beat the Diaz bros and he would try to emulate it.... Nobody wants to see that shit again Diaz wait so you can fight BENSON please!!!

This ^

Both cerrone and miller were 1 fight away from a shot and Nate gave them both the beating of their careers. Pettis looked like shit against guida, wrestled a win over mid tier Stephens, and got a flash ko at the beginning of the fight against lauzon which is his only impressive UFC win
